REPURPOSE IT ANNOUNCED AS AN OFFICIAL SUSTAINABILITY SPONSOR AND INDUSTRY PARTNER OF THE MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL FLOWER AND GARDEN SHOW
Repurpose It is proud to be an Official Sustainability Sponsor and an Industry Partner of the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, marking a major step-change in how the iconic event approaches sustainability through the repurposing of materials used across the Show.
As part of the sponsorship, Repurpose It will supply bark to show gardens, demonstrating how composts, mulches and soils are created by diverting organic waste from landfill and transforming it into products that nourish plants, landscapes and communities.
Following the Show, Repurpose It will recover organics, timber waste and construction and demolition materials, processing them into new materials and continuing their circular economy journey well beyond the event.
Repurpose It CEO, George Hatzimanolis said, “This sponsorship is about embedding circular thinking into a major public event from the ground up, proving that sustainability can be practical, visible and scalable while still supporting world-class garden design.”
Repurpose It ambassador Jamie Durie said, “I’ve been part of the Flower and Garden Show for over 25 years and it’s exciting to see it take such a meaningful step forward, this partnership sets a new benchmark and will make this one of the most sustainable Shows we’ve seen. I’m glad to be back, and I’m very happy to be designing and building a garden again, utilising Repurpose It’s sustainable products to facilitate the build.”
By repurposing materials used throughout the festival and reintegrating them into new uses, Repurpose It is helping deliver a future-focused model for large-scale events, reinforcing that beautiful gardens can also leave a lasting positive legacy rather than waste behind.
Visitors to MIFGS will be able to meet Jamie Durie at the Repurpose It Stand as well as learn about the circular economy and how Australian landscapers are developing sustainable gardens.
