Repurpose It named on the 2022 AFR BOSS Most Innovative List

Victorian-based resource recovery pioneer Repurpose It has been recognised as one of Australia and New Zealand’s Most Innovative Companies.

The prestigious annual list, published by The Australian Financial Review BOSS, is based on a rigorous assessment process managed by Australia’s leading behavioural science consultancy, Inventium, in conjunction with a panel of industry expert judges.

Repurpose It was pleased to rank an outstanding 8th on the Manufacturing and Consumer Goods list for 2022, from more than 700 nominated organisations across Australia and New Zealand. The assessment is based on Inventium’s Innovation Framework that comprises the nine elements science has shown to drive innovation.

The assessment also judges the organisation’s top innovation from the previous two years. Specifically, the judges look at how valuable the problem is that the innovation is solving, the quality and uniqueness of the solution, and the level of impact that the innovation has had.

“Repurpose It is extremely honoured to be recognised for the innovative work we do in resource recovery and our desire to change the status quo,” said CEO George Hatzimanolis.

“We have made it our mission to continually disrupt the industry with innovative technology that turns ‘untreatable waste’ into quality usable products. Repurpose It is a business that is sustainable in every aspect of our operations, from our contribution towards environment, material flows and end markets,” he said.

“One of our recent innovations was the manufacturing of a stabilised sand product using cement and 100% recycled sand from excavation soil, that was traditionally destined for landfill.

“In addition, our wash plant gives us a unique capability to wash and recycle construction and demolition waste, that would also ordinarily end up in landfill.

“It’s fantastic to see our hard work in this space being recognised, with Repurpose It being included in such a prestigious list.”

The pipeline for Repurpose It is full of innovation, with the business continuing to utilise Australian-first technologies and be a reference site for resource recovery in Australia.

“Inventium is proud to announce the 2022 Most Innovative Companies list in conjunction with The Australian Financial Review. It’s exciting to see the number of ideas that are not only creating enormous value for our entrants, but are also contributing to a positive impact on our planet and diverse communities,” said Dr Amantha Imber, Founder, Inventium.
